ModeratorWeek 02/52 – Decided for a self portrait this week. Two strobes with gels on (free from Lee Filters) using the popular orange/teal combo and used my reflector for some background detail.

Im sure you will have many opportunities to be out and about. Whilst, Ive made lots of notes on how to do different macro and still-life shots at home :)

ModeratorLovely shot Bett, guessing you removed a distracting background? Glad you are doing a similar project to me!

ModeratorHi All
Just to say that I wont be able to make it due to family commitments. Wish you all the very best weather and locations.

ModeratorI would be interested in going. However it’s unlikely I will have the car over that whole period. Currently away in sunny North Devon so will update when I return.

ModeratorA technique I’ve used for focusing night skies is to use live view then zoom in to maximum magnification and manually focus your lens till a star is in focus then you’re good to go.

ModeratorAs a further update I can confirm I will be there at East Croydon station on Saturday at 10am. From last night’s meeting I understand that both Wally & Frank will be joining me. Others are more than welcome as well.

ModeratorThis does sound tempting! May need to persuade the Mrs…
As a small plug I went here 7 years ago and can heartily recommend the area. Here is my Flickr album from that time (was late October) – https://www.flickr.com/photos/8182614@N08/albums/72157672466725953

ModeratorI dont have direct experience but I do understand that most mirrorless camera batteries do not last as long due to the extra electronic functions over a mechanical DSLR. Popular YouTuber Gavin Hardcastle always complains about his Sony batteries constantly running out, meaning he carries many spares. He does exaggerate but have heard similar elsewhere.
